A few Considerations

This work isn't for everybody. We want you to know what you're getting into when you work for us.

Work for Red River

Are you looking for an amazing seasonal work experience? Maybe you're on summer break from college. Maybe you're retired or looking for part-time work. Or maybe you're a free spirit traveling during a gap year. Whatever your story, if you're looking for unique summer employment, we're looking for a couple of unique summer employees.

Because we're such a small business, we can also make non-traditional employment arrangements to fit your (and our) needs. Do you already have other part-time work and only need three or four days of work a week? Do you have a month free between other commitments? Do you have a specific skill (carpentry, landscaping, etc) that you're willing to barter for a few days' stay? Let's chat!

Job Benefits

There's no question about it: if you're considering a job at Red River, you already love the woods. We're guessing that you value solitude and peace over crowds and turmoil, that you would rather go hiking or fishing than spend time at the mall; and that you prefer smart, face-to-face conversation over browsing Facebook on your smartphone. That's perfect, but here are a few more (click-to-expand) reasons we think you should consider a summer with us:

COMPETITIVE PAY
You can seriously get paid to spend time in Deboullie! How great is that? Please note, however, that we are a VERY small business and don't have the capacity to provide 401(k) accounts, health insurance, or some of the other monetary benefits of larger businesses and corporations.
TIPS
While we're on the subject of money, we split tips equally among staff, on top of your fair wages.
ROOM AND BOARD
One of the great underrated benefits of working at a sporting camp is that we eat what the guests eat. Steak, homemade pasta, salmon, cookies... All part of your compensation. And let's face it; nobody wants to commute from town every day. You'll save hundreds of dollars in gas money, as well as vehicle wear and tear, by staying in one of the most beautiful parts of the state.
FREE TIME
Bring your trekking poles and hiking boots. While we do have a lot of work to do every day, we'll make sure you have some free time to do the things you love, too.
NETWORKING
Our employees meet folks from all walks of life and all corners of the globe. Will you make a new lifelong friend, meet a future employer, or reconnect with someone you knew from your past? None of those things are out of the question!

A few Considerations

Working at a sporting camp isn't for everybody. It's certainly not a typical 8-5 desk job, and we want you to know what you're in for. A few items to note when considering working for us:

OUR SEASON
We can only employ people from around May 15 to the end of October. If you're a college student who can only work from June until the beginning of August, that's fine, but if you're looking for employment before May or after November, we can recommend some of our year-round peers.
LIVING ARRANGEMENTS
We have one house at Red River dedicated to employees; we all live there together. Think of it like being in a multi-generational dorms.
PETS
We have cats. They're adorable and sweet and loveable, but if you have bad allergies, it could be a problem. And for their sake, although we know you love your furry family members as well, we can't have you bring yours (especially dogs, even if they're friendly) with you for the summer.

And finally, here's what we need to know we can count on from you:

RELIABILITY AND DEDICATION
Life in Deboullie is fun and wonderful, but employees must be present for work duties when needed.
SERVICE WITH A SMILE
Red River vacations are cherished by our guests year after year, partly because we treat them like the cherished extended family they are. So even when we're having a bad day (and let's face it, we all have them), guests receive nothing but smiles and a positive outlook.
LOTS OF ENERGY
This is two-fold. Firstly, we are a dynamic team who lives every day of the summer to the fullest. In a more mundane sense, though, our camp is also situated on a fairly steep hill that you'll walk up and down every single day carrying laundry and other stuff. Every. Single. Day.

Does Red River still sound like your kind of place? We're currently looking to fill the following positions for this summer. Drop us a note via e-mail if you think you might be a good match!

FULL-TIME HOSPITALITY
The bulk of your work day will consist of typical hospitality duties. You'll be waiting tables and doing dishes; cleaning rooms, making beds, and changing over cabins between parties; washing and hanging laundry; and helping keep the lodge and grounds neat and organized. (Just examples, not an exhaustive list.) There will also be plenty of opportunity to let your own passions shine.
PART-TIME HOSPITALITY
We're looking for one or two part time (a few days a week) housekeepers to help with general housekeeping duties. If you're local and are looking for a little part-time work, this could be the job for you! This job does require a high-energy, fit person; our hill is nothing to trifle with.
